Choose a format for browsing or taking notes

For scanning product photos by category, a website directory is a convenient starting point. For side-by-side notes, a spreadsheet with fields you control can be more useful. They can complement each other, so you do not have to choose one format for every task.

This directory uses web pages and product cards. It is not an editable Google Sheets workbook. Comparing those formats explains why one page might be easy to scan visually while another is better suited to recording your own comparison fields. Neither layout, by itself, establishes that a product is available or that a listing has been independently tested.

A shared Google Sheet and a published Sheet are different

A shared Google Sheets file has access roles. Viewers, commenters and editors do not have the same abilities. Receiving a link does not automatically give you permission to change the workbook, and an organization can limit external access. A file that opens for its owner may therefore not open in the same way for another reader.

Publishing a sheet to the web produces a separate viewing experience. The owner can publish an entire workbook or selected sheets. A published spreadsheet appears without the usual editing toolbar and is not the same interface as the original workbook. That distinction matters when a page looks like a table but does not offer the controls you expected.

Publication also has its own update setting. Original-file changes can appear in the published version, but automatic republishing can be turned off. A public-looking table is therefore not enough to establish whether its latest changes have reached readers.

What rows offer that product cards may not

A workbook can hold several comparison fields in the same row: a product reference, a note, a recorded amount and a date, for example. Where the interface and permissions support it, sorting and filtering can expose patterns across those fields. Their usefulness depends on consistent entries, not simply on the number of rows.

Google Sheets also distinguishes ordinary filters from filter views. A filter view can provide an individual view of the data; a person without editing access can create a temporary filter view that is not saved. Those controls belong to the Sheets interface and should not be assumed to exist on every published or embedded version.

For a reader who wants to add personal questions and compare a few options, a private workbook can complement a directory. That is a different purpose from editing someone else’s public source list.

What a website directory changes

Compare the format with the task
FormatUseful strengthQuestion to ask
Shared workbookReading multiple fields together; permitted sorting or filteringWhat access role and controls do I actually have?
Published sheetA view-only table that can be embedded or shared publiclyIs automatic republishing enabled?
Website directoryVisual cards, category pages and contextual readingWhat information does each card include and when was it captured?
Personal comparison filePrivate notes tailored to your own decisionHave I kept the original link and the date with each observation?

This directory groups saved product information into visual categories. Product cards open saved details within this directory; purchase buttons open the external product page in a new tab. The listing can change after the directory information was saved, so confirm the current price and selected option on the purchase page.

You can browse this directory by product category to see how grouped product cards work alongside your own comparison notes.

A familiar layout is not proof of official status

A Google-hosted file identifies the tool used to share a document. A branded website identifies the presentation you are viewing. Neither fact alone establishes a commercial relationship with FSBuy or with the sellers linked from it. Read the publisher’s own identity and explanation of its role.

The same distinction applies to freshness. A newly designed website can contain older records, while a plain workbook may have recently edited rows. Evaluate the information presented rather than assuming that the more polished format is the more current source.

Choose the format for the job you need done

Use category pages to discover products and a personal sheet if you want your own comparison notes. Before making a decision, open the current product page. The format changes how you organize information; its update settings determine how current that information may be.
